Looking down the private drive at Meadow Oaks

The work

Meadow Oaks Townhomes

North Ranch, Ventura, CA

Thirty luxury townhome condominiums in North Ranch, Ventura County, 1983 to 1984, at $6,300,000. Rigney Development was builder and developer both, as it was on all twenty-one projects of that era.

It arrives directly after Sherman Way Townhomes in Van Nuys, two hundred and forty condominiums at $22,800,000 and the largest thing the company had built. Meadow Oaks is a fifth of the unit count at three times the cost per home. The company had proved it could do volume and then deliberately did the opposite, which is the decision the whole Ventura County stretch turns on.

The photographs are the most recent in the entire archive, taken on the seventh of June 2026. Forty-two years after handover the stone monument still carries its brass lettering, the planting along the private drive has matured into a canopy, and the garage frontage reads as it was drawn. Every other project on this site is documented while it was being built. This one is documented by how it aged.
